District office celebrates generalization

← news.back

This week, the topping-out ceremony for the comprehensive renovation of the Bad Kissingen District Office took place. Oh Objektplanung is proud to be contributing to this groundbreaking project.

Project overview

Complete redesign The 40-year-old building will be completely gutted and fitted with a new louvre façade made of Corten steel, which blends harmoniously into the historic cityscape while simultaneously setting the most modern accents. Expanded Capacity: The gross floor area will be increased to almost 2,400 square meters to accommodate up to 117 modern workstations, including 14 flexible shared desks for part-time and home office workers. This measure contributes to efficient space utilization and accommodates new working practices. Sustainable Modernization: Sustainability plays a central role in the renovation. The building will be equipped with an energy-efficient thermal insulation system, an extensively planted flat roof for cooling in the summer, and an anti-reflective photovoltaic system for electricity generation. Additionally, charging stations for electric vehicles will be installed in the courtyard. Stability and Safety: Oh Objektplanung was responsible for the structural calculations for this ambitious project to ensure longevity and safety. A new emergency power generator with a 630 kVA transformer and a 2,000-liter reserve tank secures the building's future energy supply.

Progress and challenges

The project has been in planning for six years, with initial considerations dating back to 2018. Originally, only an energy-efficient renovation was planned, but the plans were expanded to meet current requirements. Delays caused by the pandemic led to a postponement of the schedule, but in January of this year, the comprehensive renovation finally began, and completion is scheduled for June of next year.

Benefits for the region and future orientation

Once opened, the modernized district office will offer additional workspaces and visitor-friendly areas, including more spacious waiting areas and bicycle parking for the increasing number of employees who cycle to work. In the words of the third mayor, Thomas Leiner, the district office has become one of the largest investors in the city, thus underlining the joint commitment to the future viability of the region. This project is an example of forward-looking renovation planning that combines sustainable infrastructure and monument preservation, thus making an important contribution to the future of the Bad Kissingen region.
